Indra Nooyi née Krishnamurthy is an Indian-American business executive and former chairperson and chief executive officer (CEO) of PepsiCo which operates in more than 180 countries. She has consistently ranked among the world's 100 most powerful women. She was been awarded honorary doctorate degrees by eleven reputed American Universities and the Padma Bhushan in 2007.
In 2017, the final year of her over 12-year CEO role at PepsiCo, her pay was $31 million.
Raised in a Tamil Brahmin middle class traditional family, she was educated at the Little Angels Convent School and Madras Christian College in Chennai and did her 2 year post graduate management diploma at IIM, Calcutta (1974 -1976). She earned her Master’s degree in Public and Private Management from Yale in 1980.
In 2016, Nooyi gifted an undisclosed amount to her alma mater, The Yale School of Management. She became the school's biggest alumni donor in history and the first woman to endow a deanship at a top business school with her gift.
Nooyi is a small village near Mangalore that her husband Raj Nooyi is from.
In June 2018, Nooyi joined the International Cricket Council Board as the organization's first independent female director. Since February 2019, Nooyi has been a member of the board of directors at Amazon.
In India, she used to play cricket and was also in an all-girl rock band “Log Rhythms”, where she played guitar.
Her memoir written in 2021 is titled My Life in Full:Work, Family, and Our Future
