Abhinav Bindra

Abhinav Bindra (1982) is the first Indian to win an Olympic Gold Medal.

He is the first Indian to have held concurrently the world and Olympic titles for the men's 10-meter air rifle event, having earned those honors at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships. 

He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award in 2001 (then youngest recipient of the award at age 18) and the Padma Bhushan in 2009.

He is currently the CEO of Abhinav Futuristics Private Limited, an organization that works to bring science and technology into the sport and healthcare sectors.

In 2020, he launched the Abhinav Bindra Sports Medicine and Research Institute at Bhubaneswar.

His autobiography, A Shot at History: My Obsessive Journey to Olympic Gold which he co-authored with sportswriter Rohit Brijnath was published in 2011.
