The sheer size of India's middle class, although very variegated, is huge.
According to People's Research on India's Consumer Economy, India's middle class is estimated at 432 million - larger than the population of the US - and is projected to grow to 715 million by 2030-31, and then to a staggering 1 billion by 2047.
The middle class is overwhelmingly youthful, consistent with the fact that nearly two out of three Indians are less than 35 years old.
