Harsh Nayyar is perhaps best known to many Indians for his portrayal of the character Nathuram Godse in Richard Attenborough's "Gandhi". To ensure accuracy, Harsh consulted with the brother of Nathuram Godse, the assassin.
He also worked on the film in various production roles, initially as a liaison to the British Production Manager, Alex De Grunwald, and later as an Assistant Director. He was entrusted by Richard Attenborough to organize the Funeral scene, which featured the largest cast ever assembled for a film. This scene was shot in one day, on the 33rd anniversary of the event.
Harsh is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T) Kharagpur, where he received a Bachelor's degree (B.Tech. - First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering. He pursued graduate studies and earned a Master of Science degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, NC.
