Repealed Obsolete Laws

During the 2014 election campaign, Narendra Modi promised that if the BJP came to power, for every new law passed, his government would repeal 10 obsolete ones. Since taking office, the Modi government has surpassed the total number of defunct laws repealed by successive governments in the past 65 years.

While previous administrations removed only 1,301 obsolete laws, the current central government has successfully weeded out 1,562 such laws, improving administrative efficiency and boosting economic growth.
