Water supply is a perennial problem in Hyderabad due to plummeting groundwater levels.
As per Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board records, the highest demand for water tankers stood at 8,000 per day in 2024. Officials expect this number to touch 10,000 (or more) by April or May this year.
The cost of 5 KL tankers is about Rs 500. In case of a private tanker it can go up to Rs 3,000-4,000 during peak days.
