The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous government medical universities in India, overseen by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Recognized as Institutes of National Importance by an Act of Parliament, AIIMS New Delhi was the first to be established in 1956.
Since then, 24 more institutes have been announced, with 20 currently operational as of 2024 -
