Hyderabad MMTS

Hyderabad’s Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) suburban train service is operated by the South Central Railway (SCR).

Ticket fares are affordable, ranging between ₹5 and ₹15.

Launched in August 2003, the MMTS, along with RTC services, formed the backbone of Hyderabad’s public transport system.

Phase I spanned the 45-km Hyderabad–Secunderabad–Lingampally–Falaknuma corridor and was constructed at a cost of around ₹190 crore through a 50:50 partnership between SCR and the then Andhra Pradesh government.

After a long pause with little progress from either side, MMTS Phase II finally wrapped up in 2024, adding links to Bolarum, Medchal, Moula Ali, Umdanagar, Tellapur, and R.C. Puram. The upgraded network now stretches close to 100 km and came with a price tag of about ₹1,150 crore.
