Gurtej Sandhu

Gurtej Sandhu, raised in Amritsar and trained at IIT Delhi, holds over 1,400 US patents at Micron Technology—more than Thomas Edison—primarily for titanium nitride deposition processes critical to DRAM memory in phones, GPUs, and data storage.

He is the world’s seventh most prolific inventor (as of August 2025).

With both parents holding doctoral degrees, he grew up in an academically rich environment that nurtured scientific curiosity and scholarly pursuits.

Sandhu has been acknowledged by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) for his role in shaping U.S. chip leadership through high-volume patenting and technical expertise.

Sandhu maintains a strong adherence to Sikhism, consistently wearing a turban as a symbol of his commitment to the faith's principles, which have profoundly shaped his personal values of humility and perseverance.

Known for his quiet and introspective nature, Sandhu prefers deep, focused reflection over public discourse, a trait evident from his childhood when he pondered profound questions about the universe and the meaning of life.
